Siliguri Municipal Corporation razes unauthorized building in Deshbandhupara's Ward No. 30

Responding to a complaint lodged on the Chief Minister's Bolo portal, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation took prompt action on Saturday, demolishing an illegal construction in Gopal More, Deshbandhupara, Ward No. 30. The operation, however, faced opposition from women residing in the house.

According to Brigit Aich, Assistant Engineer at Siliguri Municipal Corporation, the complaint originated from a resident of Gopal More, prompting a thorough investigation. Notices were issued three times to the homeowner, Mithali Pal, urging the demolition of the unauthorized structure. As Mithali Pal failed to respond, a part of the illegal construction was swiftly demolished by the municipal corporation.

In response, Mithali Pal contended that she had intended to undertake the demolition herself and had requested a 15-day time limit from the corporation. However, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation proceeded with the demolition without granting the requested time, leading to a disagreement between the homeowner and the municipal authorities.
